Change Manager Salary: Hourly to Annual Conversion with Casual Loading and Super
For a change manager earning $50 per hour, the annual salary is approximately $98,800 based on a 38-hour week (50 × 38 × 52).
Understanding the change manager salary landscape
When you are negotiating a change manager salary, it helps to see the full picture: hourly rate, annual equivalent, fortnightly pay, tax, and super. Change managers in Australia often work under professional awards or enterprise agreements, but the starting point is always the minimum rates set by the Fair Work Commission and the Fair Work Ombudsman. The pay guides from the Fair Work Ombudsman list minimum rates for each award, including allowances and penalty rates. However, many change managers are classified at higher levels, so the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Average Weekly Earnings provide a useful benchmark. As of May 2026, full-time adult ordinary time earnings were $2,083.70 per week, which equates to about $108,352 annually. This is a broad average across all occupations, but it gives a reference point for a typical change manager salary.
From hourly to annual: the formula
The core calculation is straightforward: hourly rate × hours per week × 52 weeks. Our timesheet assumes a standard 38-hour week, as defined by the National Minimum Wage Order. For example, if your change manager salary is quoted at $60 per hour, the annual gross pay would be $60 × 38 × 52 = $118,560. If you are a casual employee, you receive a 25% loading on top of the base rate, so the casual hourly rate becomes $75, and the annual figure rises to $148,200. Important: never enter a rate that already includes casual loading into our calculator – use the base rate and tick the casual box.
To find your fortnightly pay, simply multiply your weekly gross by 2. For the $60/hour example, weekly pay is $2,280, so fortnightly is $4,560. This is useful for budgeting if you are paid fortnightly.
The role of casual loading and super
Casual loading compensates for the lack of paid leave entitlements. The Fair Work Commission sets the casual loading at 25% of the minimum hourly rate. Our calculator adds this on top when you select the casual option. Superannuation is a separate obligation: employers must pay 12% of your ordinary earnings into a super fund, on top of your salary. For 2026–27, the maximum contribution base is $270,830, meaning super is only paid on earnings up to that amount. So if your change manager salary exceeds that, super is capped. Our tool estimates super at 12% of ordinary earnings, paid on top, and stops at the cap.
Tax considerations
Tax is calculated using the 2026–27 resident tax rates: tax-free threshold up to $18,200, then 15% up to $45,000, 30% up to $135,000, 37% up to $190,000, and 45% above that. The Medicare levy is generally 2% of taxable income. Our estimate uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 thresholds were not confirmed at the time of this reference. Note that HELP repayments, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. For a change manager earning $118,560 annually, the estimated tax (including Medicare) would be roughly $30,000–$32,000, leaving about $86,000–$88,000 after tax. Using our tools
Our timesheet is the home page where you enter your base hourly rate. You can toggle casual loading and see the annual, fortnightly, and weekly figures instantly. We also provide average pay data from the ABS and Fair Work Commission to help you benchmark your change manager salary. Remember that our estimates assume the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Always check your award or agreement for exact entitlements.
Disclaimer
Annual pay here is hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax is the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax-free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.
