Net Salary Calculator: Convert Your Hourly Rate to Annual Pay with Casual Loading and Super

For a 38‑hour week, your annual gross pay is your hourly rate multiplied by 38 then by 52, with casual loading and super added on top.

How to Use a Net Salary Calculator for Australian Pay

A net salary calculator helps you see what your hourly rate means as annual, fortnightly or weekly pay – and what you’ll take home after tax and Medicare. This guide explains the maths, the rules for casual loading, and how super is paid on top.

The Basic Formula: Hourly × Hours × 52

Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × 52 weeks. For a standard full‑time week of 38 hours, that’s:

Annual gross = hourly rate × 38 × 52

This assumes you work the same number of hours every week, with no unpaid overtime, penalty rates, allowances or salary sacrifice. It’s a starting point for comparing offers or checking your own pay.

If you work a different number of hours each week (e.g., part‑time or casual shifts), use your average weekly hours. The [the timesheet](/

Questions people ask next

How do I calculate my annual salary from an hourly rate?

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work each week, then by 52 weeks. For a standard full‑time week of 38 hours, the formula is: hourly rate × 38 × 52. This gives your annual gross pay before tax and super. If you are a casual employee, add 25% casual loading to your base rate before doing the calculation. Superannuation is then paid on top of your ordinary earnings at 12%.

What is casual loading and how does it affect my pay?

Casual loading is an extra 25% paid on top of the base hourly rate to compensate casual employees for not receiving paid leave or other entitlements. The National Minimum Wage for casuals from 1 July 2026 is $33.05 per hour (base $26.44 plus 25% loading). When using a net salary calculator, you should enter your base rate and let the calculator add the loading – never enter a rate that already includes casual loading.

Is superannuation included in my hourly rate or paid on top?

Super is paid on top of your ordinary earnings. The Super Guarantee is 12% of your gross pay (up to the maximum contribution base of $270,830 per year). For example, if your annual ordinary earnings are $50,000, your employer must contribute an extra $6,000 to your super fund. This is not deducted from your take‑home pay.
