From Minimum Wage to Ronaldo Salary: Casual Loading and Super Paid on Top
For a full-time employee working 38 hours per week, the National Minimum Wage is $26.44 per hour, or $33.05 per hour as a casual including 25% loading, with super paid on top.
Understanding Your Pay: Hourly to Annual
Whether you're earning the National Minimum Wage or a ronaldo salary, the way your pay is calculated follows the same basic formula. Your annual gross pay is your hourly rate multiplied by the hours you work each week, multiplied by 52 weeks. For most full-time employees, the standard week is 38 hours. So the equation is:
Annual gross ≈ hourly rate × 38 × 52
This gives you a quick estimate. But to really understand your take-home pay, you need to factor in casual loading, superannuation, and tax. Let's break it down.
The National Minimum Wage and Award Rates
From 1 July 2026, the National Minimum Wage set by the Fair Work Commission is $26.44 per hour, or $1004.90 per week for a 38-hour week. This is the minimum for adult employees not covered by an award or agreement. However, many workers are covered by industry or occupation awards that set higher minimum rates. Always check the pay guides from the Fair Work Ombudsman to see the correct rate for your job.
Casual Loading: 25% on Top
If you're a casual employee, you get a 25% loading on top of the base hourly rate. This compensates for not receiving paid leave. For the National Minimum Wage, that means $33.05 per hour ($26.44 × 1.25). When you use a calculator, you should enter your base hourly rate and then add the casual loading separately. Never enter a rate that already includes the loading.
Superannuation: Paid on Top
Superannuation is not part of your hourly rate; it's paid on top by your employer. The Super Guarantee is 12% of your ordinary time earnings, up to the maximum contribution base of $270,830 per year. For example, if your annual gross is $60,000, your employer must contribute an extra $7,200 into your super fund. This is separate from your take-home pay.
From Hourly to Fortnightly and Weekly
Knowing your pay per period helps with budgeting. Your weekly pay is your hourly rate times your weekly hours. Your fortnightly pay is simply that times two. For a full-time employee on the National Minimum Wage:
- Weekly: $26.44 × 38 = $1004.90
- Fortnightly: $1004.90 × 2 = $2009.80
- Annual: $1004.90 × 52 = $52,254.80
For a casual, add the 25% loading first: $33.05 × 38 = $1255.90 per week, $2511.80 per fortnight, $65,306.80 per year.
Tax and Medicare
Your gross pay is not what you take home. The Australian Taxation Office applies the 2026–27 resident tax rates:
- $0 – $18,200: nil
- $18,201 – $45,000: 15% of excess over $18,200
- $45,001 – $135,000: $4,020 plus 30% of excess over $45,000
- $135,001 – $190,000: $31,020 plus 37% of excess over $135,000
- $190,001 and over: $51,370 plus 45% of excess over $190,000
Plus the Medicare levy of 2% (based on 2025–26 single reduction thresholds). This is an estimate only; your actual tax may vary depending on your circumstances.
The Ronaldo Salary Perspective
Even if you're earning what some might call a ronaldo salary – a very high income – the same conversion principles apply. The difference is that higher earners quickly hit the top tax bracket and the super contribution cap. For example, someone earning $300,000 per year would have an hourly rate of about $151.52 (based on 38 hours × 52 weeks). Their super would be capped at $270,830, so only that portion attracts the 12% contribution. Understanding these thresholds is essential for negotiating contracts or planning your finances.
Using the Timesheet Tool
Our timesheet lets you enter your base hourly rate and optionally add the 25% casual loading. It then calculates your weekly, fortnightly, and annual gross pay, along with estimated tax and super. Remember: super is shown as an additional amount paid on top, not deducted from your pay.

Disclaimer
Annual pay here is hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax is the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax-free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.
