Use the seek take home pay calculator to convert your hourly rate to annual salary

For a full-time employee working 38 hours per week, annual gross pay is hourly rate × 38 × 52.

Convert your hourly rate to annual, fortnightly and weekly pay

If you’re paid by the hour or considering a salary offer, the seek take home pay calculator on this site helps you see the full picture. Enter your hourly rate, choose your hours, and instantly see your annual, fortnightly and weekly pay – plus estimated tax and super. This page explains how the numbers work and what assumptions we use.

The basic formula: hourly × hours per week × 52

Annual gross pay is simply your hourly rate multiplied by the number of hours you work each week, multiplied by 52 weeks. For a standard full-time employee working 38 hours per week, the formula is:

Annual gross = hourly rate × 38 × 52

For example, if your hourly rate is $30.00, your annual gross pay would be $30 × 38 × 52 = $59,280.

We assume 38 hours per week because that is the standard full-time week under the Fair Work Act. If you work different hours, you can adjust the hours in the calculator. The same formula works for any hours: just replace 38 with your usual weekly hours.

Fortnightly pay: weekly × 2

Many Australian employers pay fortnightly. Your fortnightly gross pay is your weekly pay multiplied by 2. Using the example above, weekly pay is $30 × 38 = $1,140, so fortnightly pay is $2,280. The seek take home pay calculator shows both weekly and fortnightly amounts.

National Minimum Wage vs award rates

The Fair Work Commission sets the National Minimum Wage each year. From 1 July 2026 it is $26.44 per hour for a full-time adult employee, or $1,004.90 per week for 38 hours. If you are a casual employee, you are entitled to a 25% casual loading on top, making the minimum casual rate $33.05 per hour.

However, most employees are covered by an award – a legal document that sets minimum pay rates and conditions for a specific industry or occupation. Award rates are often higher than the National Minimum Wage. The Fair Work Ombudsman publishes pay guides for each award. The seek take home pay calculator does not know which award you are under; you enter your actual hourly rate. If you are on an award, check your classification and enter that rate.

Casual loading and superannuation

If you are a casual employee, your employer must pay you a casual loading (usually 25%) on top of the base hourly rate. The calculator has a checkbox that adds 25% casual loading to the rate you enter. Do not enter a rate that already includes casual loading – enter the base rate, then tick the box.

Superannuation (super) is paid on top of your ordinary earnings. The super guarantee rate is 12% of your ordinary time earnings, up to the maximum contribution base of $270,830 per year. For example, if your annual gross pay is $59,280, your employer must contribute an extra $7,113.60 into your super fund (12% of $59,280). The calculator shows this estimated super amount.

Tax and Medicare

The calculator uses the 2026–27 resident tax rates:

  • Nil tax on the first $18,200
  • 15% on income between $18,201 and $45,000
  • 30% on income between $45,001 and $135,000
  • 37% on income between $135,001 and $190,000
  • 45% on income above $190,000

Plus the Medicare levy of 2% (with reductions for low-income earners using the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds, as the 2026–27 thresholds were not confirmed at the time of this calculator’s update). The calculator does not deduct HELP repayments, the Medicare levy surcharge, or salary packaging.

Using the seek take home pay calculator

To get started, visit the timesheet. Enter your base hourly rate in the field. The calculator assumes 38 hours per week, but you can change that. If you are casual, tick the “Add 25% casual loading” checkbox – the calculator will apply the loading on top of your base rate. Then click calculate to see:

  • Annual gross pay
  • Weekly and fortnightly gross pay
  • Estimated tax and Medicare
  • Estimated super (12% on top)
  • Estimated take-home pay after tax

Important notes and disclaimer

Annual pay here is hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax is the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax-free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.

Questions people ask next

How do I convert my hourly rate to an annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work each week, then multiply by 52. For a standard full-time week of 38 hours, the formula is: hourly rate × 38 × 52. This gives your gross annual pay before tax and super. The seek take home pay calculator on this site does this calculation for you and also estimates tax, Medicare and super.

What is the difference between the National Minimum Wage and an award rate?

The National Minimum Wage is set by the Fair Work Commission and is the minimum pay for employees not covered by an award or registered agreement. From 1 July 2026 it is $26.44 per hour (or $33.05 with casual loading). Award rates are set by the Fair Work Ombudsman for specific industries and occupations and are often higher. The seek take home pay calculator lets you enter your own hourly rate, which could be a minimum wage, award rate or above-award rate.

Does the seek take home pay calculator include super and tax?

Yes. The calculator estimates tax using the 2026–27 resident tax rates and the Medicare levy (2%). Superannuation is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings, paid on top of your gross pay, up to the maximum contribution base of $270,830. The calculator also has a checkbox to add 25% casual loading. Note that it does not deduct HELP repayments, the Medicare levy surcharge, or salary packaging.
