For a full‑time employee working 38 hours per week, annual gross pay is the hourly rate multiplied by 38 hours then by 52 weeks.
After Tax Salary Calculator: From Hourly to Annual Pay
The basic conversion formula
To convert an hourly rate to an annual figure, use the formula: hourly rate × hours per week × 52. Most full‑time employees work 38 hours per week, so the standard assumption is 38 hours. For a part‑time or casual roles, adjust the hours to match your actual weekly hours. For example, $26.44 per hour × 38 hours × 52 weeks = $1,004.9 per week for the National Minimum Wage. That is the weekly pay for 38 hours. The annual gross is $26.44 × 38 × 52 = $1,004.9 per year. For a casual employee, the base rate is $26.44 plus 25% loading. The casual loading is paid on top, so the actual rate is $33.44 per hour including 25% loading. The annual gross for a casual on the minimum wage is $33.44 × 38 × 52 = $1,004.9 per year. The formula is the same: hourly × hours × 52. The after tax salary calculator will deduct tax and Medicare from that gross.
Award rates and award rates are different from the National Minimum Wage
The National Minimum Wage is the minimum for all employees. Award rates are set by the Fair Work Commission for specific industries or occupations. The Fair Work Ombudsman provides pay guides for each award. The reference tables on our reference tables show the minimum for each classification. If the reference is an industry or state average, it is an average and not this job's median. The hourly conversion on our hourly conversion is the home page. You type a base hourly rate. A checkbox adds 25% casual loading on top. Never type a rate that already includes casual loading. The calculator then shows the annual, fortnightly, and weekly gross and net amounts. It also estimates super paid on top. The after tax salary calculator is a tool to estimate your take‑home pay.
Important notes
Annual pay here is hourly rate × hours per week × 52. It assumes the same rate every week, no unpaid overtime, no penalty rates, no allowances, and no salary sacrifice. Super is estimated at 12% of ordinary earnings only, paid on top, and stops at the $270,830 maximum contribution base. Tax is the 2026–27 resident scale with the full tax‑free threshold. Medicare uses the 2025–26 single reduction thresholds because the 2026–27 reduction thresholds were not confirmed here. HELP, the Medicare levy surcharge, and salary packaging are not deducted. This is an estimate, not a determination of your pay or tax.
